Pregnancy Complications
There are various pregnancy complications that every pregnant woman should have basic knowledge about. Some of these complications are:
It is a rare pregnancy complication also known as a low-lying placenta. In this condition, the placenta gets attached to the bottom part of the uterine wall and covers the cervix. When it becomes a serious condition, a pregnant woman can experience heavy bleeding. Visit a gynaecology hospital for treatment at an early stage.
It is a type of diabetes that is often diagnosed during pregnancy. It is caused by insulin resistance in the body. In most cases, there are no noticeable symptoms but in rare cases, it can lead to jaundice, low minerals, and respiratory distress syndrome in the baby. Gestational diabetes can be treated by some changes in the diet and monitoring blood sugar levels.
Premature labor or premature delivery is a delivery of a child that occurs after the 20th week and before the 37th week of the pregnancy. Premature delivery is an intentional choice of the doctors in most cases due to some complications in a mother or a child. While at other hand, factors like smoking, uterine fibroids, history of multiple abortions or preterm births, can result in preterm labour.
High or low blood pressure is a serious common issue during pregnancy. High blood pressure occurs when the arteries become narrow and as a result, there is a poor flow of blood from the heart to other organs and to the placenta. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can result in another serious complication like preeclampsia. It can result in preterm labor or having a small baby.
There are a lot of bacterial or viral infections that can complicate a pregnancy case. These infections can be harmful to both the baby and the mother. Some of these infections like urinary tract infection, cytomegalovirus, bacterial vaginosis, hepatitis B virus, group B Streptococcus, influenza, toxoplasmosis, Zika virus, etc need treatment right away.
