As we continue to fight against the deadly coronavirus - as an individual you’re probably doing everything that has been suggested. You’re practicing social distancing. You’ve become a model for good hand hygiene. And you’re keeping those hands away from your face. But are you doing everything you can for your wellbeing?

There are five types of wellbeing. Number one is your physical wellbeing which encompasses your diet, your emotions, your sleep cycle and your mental health. Second is social wellbeing which comes from staying in touch with your friends and family and the third one is community wellbeing which stems from doing good for the society and the feeling of 'we are all in this together.’

Your immune system and body can't function at their best without the basic building blocks they need to work properly. Here are some tips to keep your immunity strong:

  • Get Enough Sleep: Sleep not only reboots your mind and body, but also your immune system. Not getting enough sleep causes your body to produce stress hormones such as cortisol which compromises the immune system.
  • Up the Water Intake: Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, preferably warm. You can also squeeze some lime into a glass of water. Citrus fruits like lime or lemon are great sources of vitamin C which boosts your immune system.
  • The Right Food: Try and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoid processed foods as much as you can. Include herbs and spices that have medicinal properties like turmeric, dry ginger, garlic, pepper, cardamom and ashwagandha in your meals and snacking.
  • Light exercise: Physical activity is a must for a robust immune system. Regular exercise helps increase your body’s production of antibodies, in addition to helping you detox.
  • Supplements: Start the intake of essential vitamins and minerals which are not commonly found in our Indian diet and must be taken in the form of supplements. Some of these include Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin B6, B12, Magnesium and Vitamin E

Although we are in uncertain times, we don’t have to wait to see if we are healthy enough to overcome any type of sickness or disease. By implementing some of these holistic steps to boost your immune system, it will inevitably be a win-win situation for not only your health and well-being, but for keeping your business running like a well-oiled machine.
