SUCCESSFUL SURGERY ON NEW BORN ( 1 Day Old Baby )

New born baby was brought to emergency department of VRH, where emergency doctors and pediatrician attended the patient immediately. After thorough clinical examination and results of the investigation, doctors have come to the diagnosis of anorectal malformation and septicemia.
As blood cultures have come positive for septic screening culture, so specific IV antibiotics along with other supportive treatments were started in NICU under the supervision of Pediatric Intensivist.
Emergency colostomy was planned on next day by Dr. Jayesh Desale.
On 2 day morning, baby was shifted for surgery at 09 am for diversion colostomy by Dr. Jayesh Desale and Dr. Vitthal Shendage ( Pediatric Anesthetist, HOD – Anesthesia, VishwaRaj Hospital.
Post operative, patient was shifted to NICU for medical supervision under pediatric intensivist and pediatric nurses. On evaluation baby found to have electrolyte imbalance with severe hyponitremia, electrolyte correction was done along with other supportive care.
Baby passed stools and other clinical parameters have come to normal range.
Baby started on oral feeds ( Breast Feeding ). Temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate had come normal range. Reduced abdominal distention, corrected electrolyte imbalance and signs of sepsis has come down.
Patient was discharged on day 5th with post operative instructions.
